In 1973, Bill joined the Harvard University as a student. Along with his friend Paul Allen, they created software for the first microcomputers.
Bill found astounding success at what he was doing. He dropped out of Harvard and with Allen, founded Microsoft.
In 1981, IBM made the Microsoft software a part of its computers. Nearly every company that was into making PCs followed suit.
The first Windows version was released in 1985. Herein, all information was displayed on tiles on the computer screen, which were also known as Windows.

Bill Gates’ philanthropic ventures
Gates and his wife Melinda founded a foundation in 1994 that supported a host of projects from across the world. Included herein was a project focused towards ending polio. In the United States, the couple also funded scholarships and libraries.
In 2008 Gates retired from running Microsoft and started spending more time with his foundation.
