The project aims at accentuating friendly ties between India and other Association of South Asian Nations (ASEAN). Shashi Panja, West Bengal’s Minister for Industries, commerce, and enterprises said that the state was looking forward to this road link.

The Kolkata Bangkok Highway is indeed an ambitious project. It will take 3-4 years to complete, as per the information given at a conclave by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The conclave had taken place on 13th June 2023 as a part of BIMSTEC, which is the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economical Cooperation.

The conclave was attended by 600 delegates from 7 countries, and 190 foreign delegates were in attendance.

The highway will connect a few of the most important cities across the three countries

Beyond Bangkok, the Highway will pass through Mae Sot and Sukhothai in Thailand. In Mynamar, it will cover Tamu, Kalewa, Mandalay, and Yangon.

Similarly, in India, the highway passes through Siliguri, Srirampur, Guwahati, Kohima, and Moreh before it reaches Kolkata. The longest stretch of the highway will be in India, while the shortest will be in Thailand. As per reliable sources for Kolkata to Bangkok Highway news, the progress of the highway is reasonably good in Thailand. A major section of the highway is already complete in the nation.

Kolkata to Bangkok Highway news: Impact on real estate
